ABOUT ME
My name is Serena Shores and I am a freelance writer and photographer based in North Norfolk.
Growing up in this stunningly beautiful part of the world, I was greatly influenced by its history, palaeontology and wildlife. I found my niche in feature writing and as my experience grew, I soon developed an interest in capturing photographs of the natural world, heritage and characters I was surrounded by to compliment my written work.
My photography transformed from a way to illustrate my features and articles into its own passion and as the breadth of my subject matter increased, I found myself travelling throughout East Anglia to cover topics ranging from regenerative farming to naturalised species of bird who have made this area their home, all the time striving for the highest quality in text and visuals.
I regularly work with major publishing companies such as Future Publications, D C Thomson, Kelsey Media, ACT Publishing, Newsquest and Bauer Media. I source fresh new ideas and provide a polished written and illustrated product, which passionately brings the subject matter to life.

A unique approach and confidence in capturing images for a range of visual styles
“The Norfolk Magazine arrived from you this morning and it made wonderful reading and browsing. Your article is absolutely excellent and the pix are a treat. A resounding well done on both counts”
Like the stoic photographer out on a chilly dawn, dedicated bird watcher, or well-weathered member of the boating fraternity, the plants to be found around Blakeney Point are highly specialised, determined in their enterprise, but more than anything else, truly hardy. At closer inspection they can often appear almost alien to our inland flora, due to the way they have adapted to cope with wind, salty air, occasional submersion by the sea and a landscape which is often very dry and inhospitable to other species. “Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful feature. It’s really powerful and a fantastically engaging piece.”
